Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/30/18

Today my tea party contribution is about roses.  I seem to have developed a fondness for the image of a rose.

A recent lucky find at the thrift shop.  The two pieces were on  different shelves marked 75 cents each.  I now have a lovely cup and saucer for the grand sum of $1.50.

I thought I'd show you some things I've created using the rose as inspiration.  You may have seen some of them before.

A card with a rose done in colored pencil.

This is a rose stencil that I drew and cut myself.  I used it on a lampshade that is in my bedroom.

This is a night light I made using a glass bowl, parts of artificial flowers and a battery operated tea light.  That's in the bedroom as well.

Now it is time to join everyone for tea at the Altered Book Lover blog.  Maybe we will find some more roses there.

  2. That cup and saucer is quite a find. Thrift stores are fun, I think. There are hidden treasures :)

  3. We used to have two thrift stores in my neighborhood. Now both are gone. SO sad because they both priced themselves out of the market. People were saying they could buy items cheaper new than at the thrift stores. For example, all cups, mugs, etc. started at $2.00 (USD) and went up from there. The items you bought for $1.50 would cost at least $5.00 at these thrift stores. You got a fabulous deal and I wish our thrift stores didn't feel they had to make a killing with each purchase.

All of you8r roses are stunning. I am especially impressed with the stencil and the night light. Both are stunning and beautiful.

Thanks for sharing your roses and thrift store find with us for T this Tuesday, Darla.

  5. That cup is not only a great deal but it is beautiful. It should have roses on it, the shape of cup is so delicate and romantic like the rose flower is. And I am guessing it inspired you to create with roses. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
